Two Lake Tahoe California locations rank among the 19 best U.S. ski towns for home investors including Truckee and South Lake Tahoe, according to a recent article in latimes.com.

Truckee, Calif. placed third but came to a very close tie for second place with Vail, Colorado. Truckee is located in close proximity to multiple world-class ski resorts, including Northstar California and Squaw Valley USA. Online housing marketplace RealtyTrac derived investment criteria from communities of 2,500 residents or more with at least one ski mountain in the top 50 list compiled by Zrankings. Then vacancy rates, foreclosures, home values, and other real estate data were factored. The median home price is highest in Truckee at $379,492 and the South Lake Tahoe median price is $321,713.
